Sandown

Today, January 31, 2025Flat1m

Handy little race for some promising staying types. HIS FINEST HOUR (3) was only a narrow maiden winner on debut at Pakenham over 1600m but the late splits were strong with a big gap back to third. He'll relish more ground here and maps for a nice run. GARNACHO (1) brings the best form on paper into this, winning in this grade at Flemington last time out over 1600m. He looks another suited by more ground and will be hard to hold out. EMPHASIZE (2) hit the line sweetly on debut at Sale, going right on with it with a dominant four length win over 1717m last time out. His form ties in with Garnacho through Zorro's Flight. ENTRUSTING (5) is a colt by The Autumn Sun who looks a real stayer after closing off well at Geelong second up. MARY ELIZA (9) is out of a star NZ mare Bonneval and won well at Mornington last time. She can measure up.

At the latest run tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 0.8 len at Pakenham Mdn-Sw January 23 over 1600m defeating Wokou carrying 55kg at $16. The race before that 5th of 11 at Pakenham 3yo C&G&E Mdn-Sw on January 10 over 1200m, 9 len behind Untapped with 55kg at $151. Obviously a lot harder and the ratings say he won't be competitive.
