EIGHT ON THE DOT (3) has been racing in tougher fields lately and was in the money in both of his starts at the start of this prep. He is not badly treated at the weights in this easier company and from a good gate, he can post a rare win. His chances soar on a wet track. WHEELS (8) has yet to fire this prep but is dropping down to a level where he can be very competitive. A win here would not shock. ALPINE BEAU (1) let down strongly from well back to get up and score by a neck at Strathalbyn 18 days ago and has a better draw this time. He carries an extra kilo here but remains in the same class and another honest effort can be expected. FIGO THE GREAT (2) should be nearing his peak fitness third up and will relish the step up to a middle distance. A 4kg claim will help and he is worth including in all combinations. BELLAVARDO (9) made the most of a quick move to be put in the race last start and finished third. A similar effort would have him in the finish again.
