MR METRICS (4) is a six-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the Joe Russo stable. Finished off last campaign with a tenth at Moruya ten weeks ago. Not seen at the trials but looks nicely placed. Leading prospect. BAKERSFIELD (3) scored two runs back then was well supported last time but could only manage to finish sixth over the same trip at Cairns. Has the talent to take care of this field. IMPARDOO (7) finished 3 lengths away in fourth last time out over 950m at Cairns when first up from a spell. Steps up in distance today and rates a strong top-three chance. STRATEGIST (6) built on a nice third two starts back at Atherton with a win over 1000m there a week ago, getting home by a nose. Finds a suitable race and can build on that last-start success.
