In an ordinary maiden THE CUBAN (6) gets his chance at start sixteen. Led and just failed to hold on over this course and distance two runs back then led again but weakened at the end of 1500m last Saturday. Should control things and will take some catching. SACRED MISTRESS (8) registered her fifth minor placings from six starts when a well-beaten third over this trip at Adaminaby three weeks ago. In the money at all three runs over seven furlongs. Big chance with the help of the inside stall. THE THIRD WISH (10) is usually thereabouts but the win is elusive. Needed further when an even sixth over 1100m at Wodonga a fortnight ago. Worth considering. JANNIK (3) was ridden closer to the pace but couldn't find an extra gear over 1200m at the Sapphire Coast recently. Deserves another chance out to this distance. KENSINGTON CITY (4) is on trial at the journey. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and looks a sound each-way hope.
